The Fair Work Commission has published links to the Commission’s management directions for applications which have been filed by the Transport Workers Union seeking minimum standards for “employee like” and “road transport” workers, more generally described in many media reports today as “Uber like workers”.
Digital platform work is any work arranged through an on-line app or web site whicvh operates as a intermediary between those seeking ther service and those who provide it. This work can be on-demand or for specific tasks and often involves workers classified as independent contractors, with platforms facilitating payments and job allocation. Examples include ridesharing, food delivery, freelance creative work, and even data-entry tasks used to train AI.
These are links to the Commission’s directions for the initial management of the claims.
